If you qualify for the Lifeline discount service, you are eligible to receive a reduced rate on your Verizon monthly bill. A discount on the cost of installing a new phone service is also available. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for single mothers
There are people in Rhode Island who know hunger every day. For anyone experiencing hunger, there is help. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was created to help low-income individuals , single moms and families purchase nutritious food. There is a diverse group of people who use SNAP benefits. Recipients can be working, unemployed, pension beneficiaries, or homeless but they must be low-income and satisfy additional criteria.
The SNAP program is a partnership between federal and state governments. The Federal government pays the full cost of an individual’s SNAP benefits and approximately half of the state’s cost to administer the program.
SNAP benefits are meant to supplement a persons diet. Clients should make use of other food assistance programs such as food pantries to stretch their food budget. Prescription Discount
Rhode Island has a Prescription Assistance Program for all residents.

Womens Resource Center of Rhode Island
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) of Rhode Island provides a number of helpful programs and services to clients and their families who are or have been a victim of domestic violence. WRC provides a safe, confidential shelter for abused women and their children. There is a shelter available for men at a different location. WRC has resources to empower the victims of domestic abuse to be independent and assists victims with locating affordable housing.

The Hope Clinic provides free, high-quality medical care to uninsured adults living in Rhode Island.
The clinic offers culturally sensitive, personalized care. We speak: Spanish, French, Arabic, Creole and a little Italian. All of our care is provided by volunteers. We provide continuous primary care to almost 1,500 enrolled patients, and we serve thousands more through our walk in clinic, health screens and

Weatherization Assistance Program
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) helps low-income households reduce heating bills by providing weatherization services. Imagine your home being toasty warm, and not worrying about how you can pay the power bill. It isn’t just wishful thinking, WAP can make your home energy efficient and comfortable.
The WAP mission is to insulate the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly the elderly, persons with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users and households with a high energy burden, in order to conserve needed energy and to aid those people least able to afford higher utility costs.
Typical weatherization work includes sealing air leaks, caulking or repairing/replacing windows and adding insulation in the attic and walls. In some situations heat sources may need to be repaired or replaced for safety reasons. Both homeowners and renters are eligible for WAP benefits.Renters will need a signed form from the landlord before WAP efforts can begin.
